RCMP have arrested and charged a Fort Alexander man in connection with an arson that occurred this past April.
On April 17, 2011, at approximately 10pm, Powerview RCMP responded to a house fire that contained thousands of dollars worth of mechanical equipment. No one was injured in the fire.
The Office of the Fire Commissionaire attended the scene and assisted the RCMP.
Investigation confirmed the fire to be an act of arson and led to a suspect. On May 3, 2011, Powerview RCMP arrested and charged 51-year-old Earl Morrisseau of Fort Alexander with arson.
Damage caused by the fire is estimated to be approximately $75,000 and motive for the arson is still under investigation.
Morrisseau has been remanded in custody and ordered to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on May 5, 2011.
The investigation continues.
