Today, Vic Toews, Member of Parliament for Provencher, offered congratulations and best wishes to Judy Dunn and her volunteer team of organizers in advance of the 5th Annual Andrew Dunn Memorial Walk/Run in support of the battle against mental illness and depression.
“Judy Dunn and her dedicated group of family, friends and volunteers have had the courage and compassion to channel the pain or their loss into something positive, in the form of the Andrew Dunn Foundation,” said Toews. “I comment their continued dedication to raising funds and awareness in support of those affected by mental illness.”
Andrew Dunn was a Manitoba native who lost his battle with mental illness and depression on December 12, 2006 at the young age of 23. His mother, Judy, created the Andrew Dunn Foundation in celebration of his life and to contribute to the fight against depression and mental illness.
“I will be participating in this year’s event alongside many other runners and walkers,” said Toews. “I would like to congratulate all participants for taking the time out of their weekend to support the battle against an illness that affects so many Manitobans.”
The event, in support of the Andrew Dunn Foundation, will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Oakbank Arena. The walk/run will get underway at 9:30am. Please visit andrewdunn.org for additional information.
