A Steinbach cyclist has died after being struck by a semi-trailer earlier this afternoon in Steinbach, Manitoba.
On May 26, 2011, at 2:45 pm, RCMP Steinbach Detachment members were dispatched to a collision between a semi-trailer and a cyclist at the junction of Highways 12 and 52 in Steinbach.
An 18-year-old female from Steinbach was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A semi-trailer hauling hogs was proceeding west on Highway 52 from Highway 12, when the cyclist was fatally hit. The driver of the semi, an adult male from Mitchell, Manitoba, was not hurt.
RCMP continue to investigate the collision with the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist. However, alcohol is not considered a contributing factor.
