Brian Thickfoot

23-year-old Brian Thickfoot has been missing since May 28, 2011.

Powerview RCMP were informed on May 29, 2011, that 23-year-old Brian Thickfoot of Little Black River, Manitoba, has been missing since early Saturday morning May 28, 2011, at about 1am.

Powerview RCMP immediately attended to the community of Little Black River, Manitoba. Investigation revealed that Thickfoot walked away from a house party in Little Black River alone and has not been seen since.

Brian Thickfoot is described as a 23-year-old Aboriginal male with short brown hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 5’10” tall and weighs 220  pounds. Thickfoot possesses an image of a teardrop distinctively tattooed under his left eye. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Local community members initiated a search for Thickfoot with the assistance of the local Band Constable and the Powerview RCMP. On May 30, the RCMP Search and Rescue Team in partnership with the Office of the Fire Commissioner conducted an extensive ground search throughout the community of Little Black River, Manitoba and surrounding area.

The search continues today with the assistance of the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team.

Foul play is not considered a factor and the investigation continues.

Update 05/31/11 4:06pm

On May 31, 2011, at about 2:30pm, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team located and recovered Brian Thickfoot’s body in the Black River within the community of Black River, Manitoba. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
