On June 13, 2011, at 12:1 pm, Thompson RCMP along with Fire and Emergency Services, responded to a motor vehicle collision approximately 15 kilometers south of Thompson on Highway 6.

The collision resulted from a northbound 1999 Chevrolet pick-up truck colliding head-on with a southbound semi-tractor trailer unit.

RCMP have learned that the Chevrolet pick-up crossed the center line into the path of the semi-trailer unit. The driver of the pick-up truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been identified to be a 68-year-old man from Thompson.

The driver of the semi-trailer unit has been transported to Thompson General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Road Conditions have been considered to be good and alcohol is not considered a factor. No charges are expected to be pursued in this matter.
