On June 19, 2011, at about 2pm, St. Pierre RCMP were notified of the discovery of human remains in a pond adjacent to Highway 75 about 4 kilometres south of the Perimeter highway in the RM of Ritchot.
RCMP report that the deceased is male. Identification has not yet been established and a post mortem examination will take place today.
This death is being treated as suspicious.
RCMP St. Pierre-Jolys Detachment, RCMP Winnipeg Major Crime Services, along with the RCMP Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.
Update 06/23/11 1:34pm
The deceased has been identified as a 42-year-old man from the City of Winnipeg. At the request of the family, the name of the deceased will not be released. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this death, however, at this time investigators do not suspect foul play.
