This past weekend in Steinbach during the Summer in the City Festival, the first ever “Sales in the City” event was held.
The promotion formerly known as “Sidewalk Sale Days” went through a rebranding process this spring to breathe new life into a great tradition. The Steinbach Chamber of Commerce is proud to say that the rebranding proved to be just what the decades old promotion needed.
Sales in the City 2011 had 45 participating merchants – more than double the participation from last year – and several participants are declaring “record sales” during the event. An additional 29 businesses showed their support this weekend by serving as sponsors for the Summer in the City festival. That’s a total of 74 businesses getting involved!
Chamber of Commerce spokesperson Kyla Murray says, “We’re really impressed with the support from the business community. It’s great to see our businesses supporting the festival and now that Sales in the City is an official Summer in the City event, I think we’re going to see those numbers grow in the future.” Ideas are already floating around the Chamber office to make next year’s promotion bigger and better.
Congratulations are due to the business community for getting behind the festival and showcasing business in Steinbach! The weekend was a huge success all around!
