On February 22, 2009 at around 9:45pm, RCMP Selkirk responded to an attempted armed robbery at the Mac’s Convenience Store located on Main Street in the City of Selkirk.
A lone man wearing a dark colored hoodie pulled over his head with a scarf covering his face and wearing sunglasses entered the store and approached the clerk demanding to open the cash register. The cashier ignored the suspects request and departed the store with a customer without incident leaving the suspect inside. While outside the cashier used their cell phone, at which time the suspect fled the store on foot.
The suspect is believed to have had a screwdriver concealed in his pocket. There were no injuries reported and no money was taken.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man approximately 6 feet tall.
