The province has launched Health e-Plan, a secure, interactive online tool that can help Manitobans better understand their current health and learn ways to improve it over time. This announcement was made by Healthy Living, Youth and Seniors Minister Jim Rondeau.

“Health e-Plan will allow Manitobans to understand their health and wellness by providing the ability to look at their lifestyle and health risks, set realistic goals for health improvements and identify available resources,” said Rondeau. “It is appropriate for all adults, whether you are 18 or 80, and regardless of your current health status. We believe it will empower Manitobans to reduce their health risks and make changes that lead to a healthier lifestyle.”

Health e-Plan involves four easy steps:

• assessing lifestyle habits;

• setting goals;

• taking action with support from Wellness Connections that links users to helpful local, provincial and national resources; and

• tracking your progress

“At the Wellness Institute, we inspire members of our community to adopt healthy lifestyles and learn to be well,” said Casie Nishi, executive director of the Wellness Institute at Seven Oaks Hospital. “Achieving good health is easier with the right information and connection to community health programs, and the new Health e-Plan provides that and more for Manitobans.”

Rondeau also noted that Health e-Plan has a rewards program that helps to reinforce behaviour change and encourage people to stay with their wellness goals. Rewards include a wide range of products from pedometers and stress balls to pairs of tickets for individual games to the Goldeyes, Blue Bombers and the new NHL team.

Health e-Plan is now live and will be piloted for one year. The website address is www.manitoba.ca/healtheplan.
