On July 23, 2011, at about 2:30am, Brandon RCMP Detachment officers, along with local EMS, were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Highway 10, about 1 kilometre south of Brandon.

A Honda Accord, driven by an 18-year-old man from Souris, was heading northbound on Highway 10 with two 18-year-old male passengers, also from Souris. Police say that the vehicle rolled and landed upside down in the west ditch.

One of the three occupants perished in the crash, his name will not be released pending next of kin. Another occupant is reported in stable condition in hospital with serious injuries, while the other suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Speed is considered a factor in this collision. However, Brandon RCMP Detachment with the assistance of an RCMP Traffic Analyst continue to investigate.

Traffic on Highway 10 was re-routed for approximately 3 hours while police dealt with the collision.
