On July 28, 2011, just before 2am, Central Plains RCMP seized a quantity of marijuana and hash while investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence.
Police on patrol observed a 1997 GMC Yukon on Highway 1 in the RM of North Norfolk, Manitoba. The vehicle was stopped as the driver was exceeding the posted speed limit.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the occupants in the vehicle were in possession of approximately 7 grams of marijuana and approximately 11 grams of hash. An extendable baton was also located and seized from the vehicle.
Two male adults and one female adult all from Calgary, Alberta, along with a male youth from Winnipeg, were arrested for possession of a controlled substance as well as possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. All have since been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on September 12, 2011.
Police continue to investigate.
