RCMP have seized a quantity of counterfeit and suspected counterfeit clothing after a search warrant was executed this week at a retail store in Grand Marais.
On August 12, 2011, investigators from the RCMP Federal Enforcement Section executed a search warrant at a retail clothing store located in Grand Marais, Manitoba. This was part of an ongoing investigation into the retail distribution of counterfeit clothing.
RCMP seized in excess of 350 items of counterfeit and suspected counterfeit clothing. There were a number of brand names, including Ed Hardy, Billabong, Quiksilver and Abercrombie & Fitch. The retail value of these items is estimated to be over $18,000.
No charges have been laid as of this time. Charges are being contemplated under the Copyright Act, Trademark Act and the Textiles Labeling Act.
Police continue to investigate.
