On August 27, 2011, at about 5am, RCMP Nelson House Detachment and local Fire Department were dispatched to a fire alarm at Northern Store on Bay Road in Nelson House.
It took about three and a half hours to extinguish the fire. While the structure of the store is still standing, the contents are considered a write-off with extensive water, fire and smoke damage estimated at about 5 million dollars.
RCMP and the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner are investigating.
Police say that the fire is considered suspicious in nature.
The investigation continues.
