On August 31, 2011, shortly after 12pm, Shamattawa RCMP responded to a call which informed them that someone had fallen out of a moving vehicle on Hudson Bay Road in Shamattawa and was seriously injured.
Upon arrival, RCMP found a male individual on the roadway near a pick-up truck. The victim was critically injured and transported by the medical van to the local nursing station where he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Glen Stuart Thomas of Shamattawa.
Police learned that the victim was seated in on the box edge of the pick-up truck when he was ejected.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 48-year-old Robert Samson Miles of Shamattawa, has since been arrested and charged for impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, operating a motor vehicle while over. 08 causing death, operating a motor vehicle while disqualified and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
Robert Miles has been remanded into custody to appear in Thompson Court.
