Marijuana seized

Marijuana seized while RCMP executed a CDSA search warrant at a rural property in the RM of Fisher.

RCMP have seized an estimated street value of 3.5 million dollars worth of marijuana while executing a CDSA search warrant in the RM of Fisher yesterday.

On September 15, 2011, at about 7am, investigators from the RCMP “D” Division Drug Section executed a CDSA (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) search warrant at a rural property in the RM of Fisher, Manitoba.

Police seized close to 2,000 mature marijuana plants as well as approximately 55 pounds of processed marijuana. The street value of this seizure is estimated to be approximately $3.5 million dollars.

RCMP report that six men were arrested as a result of this investigation.

29-year-old Richard Thomas Chisel and 44-year-old Lorne Johnsen have been charged with production of marijuana and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. Both are from the City of Winnipeg.

Police say that four other adult males, also from Winnipeg, are also facing charges.

The investigation continues.
