Tax bills issued this year total nearly $21 million. About 40 percent of this amount funds a variety of Steinbach projects, including the asphalt resurfacing of Willow Crescent and Chapel Drive, the completion of the wastewater lagoon expansion and the landfill expansion, Reimer Avenue wastewater sewer, watermain and road reconstruction, Pine Crescent watermain renewal, and Deerfield Sidewalk construction. It also funds municipal programs, including the City’s summer beautification program, street maintenance and snow clearing functions. The remaining 60 percent of the annual tax levy is forwarded to the Province of Manitoba and the Hanover School Division to fund various school system projects and programs.
”We have a positive outlook for the future in Steinbach, with development activity to date exceeding our growth projections for this year,” said Corporate Services Manager, Troy Warkentin. “Steinbach’s municipal property tax rate continues to be the lowest in the province, and the City will continue to exercise careful consideration to provide Steinbach taxpayers with good value for their tax dollars.”
