Just before 9pm on September 25, 2011, Central Plains RCMP seized a quantity of marihuana while investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence.

While on patrol, police observed a 1987 Toyota pick-up truck on Highway 1 in the RM of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The vehicle was stopped while police were investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the 2 male occupants in the vehicle were in possession of 3 pounds of marijuana which has an approximate value of $9,000.

38-year-old Moses Bishop and 64-year-old Montgomery Bond, both of Vancouver, British Columbia, have been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking were. Both have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on September 28, 2011.

Police continue to investigate.
