Nearly 500 law enforcement personnel and other professionals from across Canada and the United States have come together over the last week to share techniques and experiences to address organized crime and serious crime issues throughout Manitoba and Canada.
This past week the Criminal Intelligence Service of Manitoba hosted the 2011 Western Canada Gang and Organized Crime Professional Development Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
“Organized crime is increasingly complex and dynamic, constantly adapting to emerging criminal activities and illicit opportunities,” said Assistant Commissioner Bill Robinson, Commanding Officer of RCMP “D” Division and Provincial Chair of the Criminal Intelligence Service Manitoba. “Sharing intelligence and coordinating operations is critical in fighting crime networks through strategic, targeted enforcement initiatives.”
Criminal Intelligence Service of Manitoba (CISM) is made up of members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Winnipeg Police Service, Brandon Police Service, Manitoba Justice – Corrections, and Canada Border Services Agency.
CISM is one of ten provincial bureaux within the Criminal Intelligence Service Canada, and provides analytical products that assist more than 42 partner agencies.
