On October 3, 2011, just after 1pm, Altona RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision near Altona, Manitoba.

Initial investigation indicates that a 1981 International dump-truck was northbound on Road 6 west when it collided with a pedal powered electric bicycle at the intersection of Road 6 north and 6 west, south west of Altona.

This is an uncontrolled intersection on a grid road.

The rider of the bicycle, a 21-year-old woman from Altona, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the dump truck, a 52-year-old man from Altona, was not injured.

An RCMP traffic collision analyst attended to assist with the investigation.

Police continue to investigate.
