This past week, RCMP seized 190 counterfeit Winnipeg Jets jerseys that were destined for numerous locations in Winnipeg.
On September 29, 2011, The RCMP Federal Enforcement Section and the Canadian Border Services Agency seized 190 counterfeit Winnipeg Jets jerseys. Investigation indicates that the counterfeit jerseys were manufactured in China and shipped to Winnipeg where the shipment was seized.
Police say that the retail value is estimated to be in excess of $76,000.
“It was just a matter of time until we intercepted copies of the official Jets jersey” advises Cpl. John Montgomery of the RCMP’s Federal Enforcement Unit. “This was very quick, as the Jets just released the official jersey a few weeks ago”.
These are copies of the official Winnipeg Jets jerseys and include the names of players in both home and away colours, although the colours are incorrect and the quality is poor.
Police continue to investigate.
