The Honourable Vic Toews, Regional Minister for Manitoba and Member of Parliament for Provencher issued a statement on the 2011 Manitoba election.
“On October 4th, the people of Manitoba exercised their democratic right to vote in the provincial election and have their voices heard regarding the issues of importance to them and their families,” said Toews. “Running for political office is a demanding and time-consuming endeavour that requires great personal and professional sacrifice on the parts of the candidates, their families and their teams of volunteers.”
“I would like to congratulate all the candidates who made the decision to seek public office,” added Toews. “While the election results will never please everyone, the participation of candidates from all parties is integral to ensuring that ideas are put forth that represent the interests of Manitoba’s diverse communities.”
“I look forward to working with those members who will be joining or returning to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly, as well as with those candidates who, while unsuccessful in this challenge, have solidified their roles as community leaders.”
