On October 6, 2011, just after 8am, Virden and Melita RCMP as well as local Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal single vehicle rollover on Highway 3, 4 miles east of Melita, Manitoba.
Initial investigation indicates that a 2002 Ford pick-up truck was westbound on Highway 3 when it went off the highway into the ditch, rolling over at least once.
The driver and lone occupant was pronounced deceased en route to the hospital. He has been identified as a 25-year-old man from Winnipeg, Manitoba. The name of the deceased will not be released.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst attended to assist with the investigation. Alcohol and seat belt use are not considered factors in the collision at this time.
Police continue to investigate.
