A Bernie, Manitoba man has been arrested after police seized a quantity of marijuana and plants at a residence near Neepawa last week.
On October 5, 2011, Spruce Plains Area RCMP with Assistance from the Portage la Prairie RCMP Police Dog Service executed a CDSA (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) Search Warrant at a residence in the RM of Rosedale, approximately 25 kilometres north of Neepawa, Manitoba.
Police located an active grow operation with marijuana and plants in various stages of production and processing. Nine pounds of processed marijuana and over 60 marijuana plants were seized.
The marijuana and plants have an estimated street value in excess of $85,000. Growing equipment valued at an additional $5,000 was also seized.
61-year-old William Thomas Carruthers of Bernie, Manitoba, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with production of marijuana and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Neepawa Provincial Judges Court on November 22, 2011.
