On October 16, 2011, at about 7pm, RCMP Lac du Bonnet, local EMS and Fire Department were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Provincial Road 313 near Wendigo Road in the RM of Lac du Bonnet.
The male driver, a 59-year-old man from Winnipeg, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female passenger, his wife, was taken to Pinawa Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.
RCMP have determined that the driver was traveling eastbound on PR 313 in a sport utility vehicle when he swerved to avoid a skunk, lost control of the vehicle and rolled.
Both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time.
An RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist is assisting in the investigation.
Police say that the deceased’s name is not being released.
