Small Business Week runs from Oct. 16 to 22 and celebrates the social and economic contributions made by Canada’s small business community. There are approximately 102,000 small businesses in Manitoba, representing 97 per cent of all businesses in the province.
The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), made the following statement about Small Business Week:
“Small Business Week is a great opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the small business owners who create jobs and economic growth across our country. Entrepreneurs generate wealth in our communities, and we should all be grateful for their enormous contribution to the Canadian economy.
“Small business owners can count on our government to implement measures that will keep their taxes low, cut red tape and reduce trade barriers. We want small businesses to continue to invest, innovate and grow.
“I also want to thank the Business Development Bank of Canada, which has been successfully organizing Small Business Week for 32 years.
“I invite all Canadians to join me this week in honouring the entrepreneurs who play a vital role in our economy.”
