Doug Robertson, President of the Grain Growers of Canada (GGC) announced today that the Canadian Young Farmers Forum (CYFF) has joined the Grain Growers of Canada as an Associate Member.
“The members of the Canadian Young Farmers’ Forum bring originality and innovation to our organization on the issues facing the future farming generations and we look forward to that input,” said Robertson. “Sitting with the Board of Directors of the Grain Growers and maintaining close collaboration will give valuable skills and knowledge to the CYFF for furthering the development and governance of their organization as well as our own.”
“Creating a knowledgeable community of support is an important element of our forum,” said Rod Scarlett, General Manager of CYFF, “We look forward to engaging with the Grain Growers of Canada as a representative force at both provincial and federal levels”.
The Canadian Young Farmer’s mission is to foster collaboration between young farmers (aged 18-40) of Canada by providing education and developmental opportunities that focus on training and capacity building. Established in 1997, CYFF works to give young farmers a voice and support network to encourage their success in Canadian agriculture endeavors.
“The Canadian Young Farmers feel there is value in working with other organizations that are also focused on fair but competitive farming for everyone in agriculture. We already work closely with our provincial counterparts and think this new affiliation will help both our industry and our growers,” said Scarlett.
