Steinbach Arts Council is proud to present the exhibit “Out & About” by photographer Kevin Friesen from November 9 to January 6 at the Hall Gallery in the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre.
Kevin was born and raised in Steinbach, MB. He has been married to Julie for 28 years; they have two children, Camren 22, and Tamera 19.
While enjoying photography since his early teens, he only became really interested when taking a grade 12 photography class with Jim Peters. Shortly after graduating from High School, in 1981, he bought his first camera, a Pentax K1000, and began to learn more about the art of painting with light. Years later he purchased his first digital, a Pentax point and shoot, and more recently, a Nikon D50.
Kevin’s favourite time to shoot is early morning or late evening. Seldom venturing out far, his wife has referred to him as “the 10 mile photographer”. With a cup of Tim’s and his favourite tunes playing, he heads out and about to capture the surrounding landscape, often with a fellow photographer.
His work has been published in SCU calendars, Our Canada magazine and on the cover of The Shunning.
Come see his breathtaking collection of photographs that will bring you back to that early misty morning, the summer kitchen or growing up in the prairies, just to name a few. Most of his photographs, will be for sale.
Everyone is invited to attend the opening ceremony. Refreshments will be served. No Admission. Toonie Donation is requested and greatly appreciated.
