On March 5, 2009 at 11:45 a.m., following a seven month investigation, RCMP executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, at a residence along PR 234, north of Riverton, in the RM of Bifrost.

Participating in the search warrant were RCMP members from the Arborg and Gimli Detachments with the assistance of the RCMP Manitoba East District Green Team, RCMP Winnipeg Drug Section and Winnipeg Integrated Proceeds of Crime Section.

Police found and dismantled a large scale marijuana grow operation inside the residence, seizing approximately 550 marijuana plants and related equipment.

The street value of the operation, once harvested, dried and packaged for sale would have reached 500,000 dollars.

At this time, police have not made any arrests. The investigation is ongoing.
