On November 1, 2011, at about 9:45am, an adult male attended Flin Flon RCMP Detachment and turned himself in, advising that he had committed a murder.
RCMP members subsequently attended a room at the Royal Hotel in Flin Flon where an adult female was found deceased.
The deceased has been identified as a 21-year-old Raylene Dawn Grant of Flin Flon. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.
RCMP investigators have arrested 44-year-old James Noel Desmarais of Flin Flon.
Desmarais has been charged with second degree murder and remains in police custody. He is scheduled to appear in The Pas Provincial Court on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 10am.
The accused and the victim were known to each other.
Members from the RCMP Major Crime Services, The Pas Forensic identification Services, RCMP- North District along with members of the Flin Flon Detachment are continuing with the investigation.
