On March 6, 2009 around 8:30 AM Portage la Prairie RCMP and Portage la Prairie Fire Department responded to a report of a building on fire on 4th St NE.
When RCMP arrived, PFD were already on scene and were putting out the fire. The fire turned out to have been set to some garbage bags and an old mattress in a lot behind the Portage Friendship Centre.
No buildings were set on fire and no structural damage occurred.
Portage la Prairie RCMP would like to ask the community to report suspicious activity to police, especially in the back lanes or near garbage dumpsters. Portage la Prairie RCMP crime report phone number is 857-8767.
