Keystone Agricultural Producers (KAP) welcomes the federal government’s announcement regarding the Agricultural Innovation Program. The program will support agriculture based research, technology, services, and the development and commercialization of new products.
The $50 million program will help entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations access information and resources to support their business ventures. It will also provide funding to co-operatives, companies and organizations for agri-based projects.
“This is a significant investment and it is our hope that farmers will benefit from the innovative products and technologies that are developed through this program,” said Doug Chorney, KAP President. “Farmers are always interested in new ideas and opportunities to help them become more profitable and competitive.”
The announcement highlights the importance of government support for industry-led science, research, and development of new products. KAP supports new programs and initiatives such as the Agricultural Innovation Program which can bring benefits to stakeholders across the agriculture sector.
“We are encouraged that the federal government shares our enthusiasm for new opportunities in areas like agri-energy, community power and the bio-economy,” said Chorney.
