On November 26, 2011, shortly after 9am, Flin Flon RCMP Detachment responded to a domestic violence complaint at a residence in the City of Flin Flon.
Upon arrival, police found a male holding a knife to the throat of a female who was later established as his 44-year-old wife.
During the incident an officer discharged his firearm and a struggle occurred between the officer and the 55-year-old male individual holding the knife. During the struggle, the victim was able to escape the situation. The Conducted Energy Weapon was successfully deployed and the man was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
RCMP report that no one was injured from the firearm discharge. However, the victim was treated for injuries relating to the domestic assault. Her injuries are considered non-life threatening and she has since been released from the hospital. The officer was not injured.
RCMP Flin Flon along with the assistance of the D Division Serious Crime Unit, Thompson Major Crime Unit, the RCMP North Crime Reduction and Enforcement Support Team (NCREST) and the RCMP The Pas Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.

The 55-year-old Flin Flon man has now been charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon and uttering threats in relation to this investigation. He has been remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in Dauphin Provincial Court, Monday, December 5, 2011.
