A local restaurant in Blumenort has launched a community toy drive where families can donate new unwrapped toys between December 6-13th.

Earlier this week, the Southeast Helping Hands put out a call of help. They are short 1,000 toys for their Community Christmas Hampers. This year, 800 deserving families will be receiving hampers of food and gifts to help make their Christmas a little merrier. Hampers will be delivered starting December 14th to families in Steinbach and the surrounding communities.

Community Christmas hampers include a Christmas gift for each child in the home. There is an urgent need for new, unwrapped toys. Southeast Helping Hands is especially in need of toys for children ages 8-13 and items for newborns.

On December 6th, the Portokalos Restaurant launched a community toy drive. Families can donate new unwrapped toys at the Portokalos Restaurant in the Blumenort Mall between December 6-13th and in return they will receive a $5 gift certificate towards their next meal purchase. “We look forward to helping bless many families this Christmas.” says Marc Atiyolil “It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to give back to the community.”
