Just after 4:30pm on December 5, 2011, Portage la Prairie RCMP were called to the residence in the RM of North Norfolk, Manitoba, where it was reported that a female had been assaulted with a weapon.

Investigation revealed that a 64-year-old female had been assaulted by a 64-year-old male. After further investigation, police found the male to be in possession of numerous unregistered firearms.

Police say that the victim sustained minor injuries however did not require medical attention.

A 64-year-old male resident of the RM of North Norfolk has been charged with assault with a weapon as well as 7 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police continue to investigate.
