A Portage la Prairie man is facing numerous drug related charges after RCMP discovered that he was in possession of cocaine.
Just before 12pm on December 23, 2011, while investigating an unrelated incident, Portage la Prairie RCMP seized a quantity of cocaine from a 20-year-old Portage la Prairie man.
Police were following up on a report of a male who had breached conditions of an undertaking when they located him at the Days Inn in the RM of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the male was in possession of 49 grams of cocaine, which has an approximate value of $3,920. He was also in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash and a prohibited weapon.
20-year-old Cody Catcheway of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, was arrested for breaching conditions of an undertaking and was also charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and a number of charges relating to possession of a prohibited weapon. Catcheway is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on December 28, 2011.
Police continue to investigate.
