The Royal Conservatory congratulates Niverville resident Kira Fondse and Stony Mountain resident Camryn Dewar, who won 2011 Gold Medals for scoring the top marks in Manitoba on the Grade 7 Voice and Grade 1 Voice examinations, respectively.
Kira’s teacher is Laurel Fast, and Camryn’s teacher is Bambi-Lyn Rutherford. They will receive their prizes at a free, public medal ceremony taking place at The Muriel Richardson Auditorium, Winnipeg Art Gallery, 300 Memorial Boulevard, on Sunday, January 8, at 2:30pm.
Regional Gold Medals are awarded each academic year (September 1 to August 31) to Conservatory examination candidates in Preparatory A and B and Grades 1 to 10 who achieve the highest standard of excellence in their respective province or designated region. Eligible candidates must score at least 80% on their practical examination and must have completed the co-requisite theory examinations for their respective grade and discipline. Gold Medal ceremonies are held annually in cities across Canada to recognize students’ achievements and acknowledge the contributions of their teachers.
