On January 7, 2012, at about 11:30pm, Norway House RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a shooting on the Norway House Cree Nation.
Initial investigation indicates that an unknown male attended a residence and knocked on the door. RCMP report that the male was wearing winter clothing and had his face covered. When a male resident answered the door, the suspect produced a firearm. The resident shut the door and the suspect fired a number of shots through the closed door before fleeing the scene.
A 23-year-old man and his 3-year-old son were both struck in the lower body. They have both been transported to Winnipeg for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Their names will not be released and no arrests have been made at this time.
Norway house RCMP with the assistance of “D” Division Major Crimes Services and the RCMP Forensic Identification unit continue to investigate.
