A framed ensign was presented to Attorney General and Justice Minister Andrew Swan by Assistant Commissioner Bill Robinson, commanding officer of RCMP “D” Division.
A framed ensign is considered a great and rare honour signifying significant and lasting accomplishments, respect and recognition of important partnerships.
“It was a great honour to accept this special gift on behalf of our government,” said Swan. “It recognizes the important and lasting relationship we have with the RCMP. By continuing to work together we can increase public safety and build safer communities which will benefit the families of Manitoba.”
The ensign is the RCMP’s distinguishing flag. It features a bison’s head along with the RCMP badge within a wreath of maple leaves.
Since 1999, the Manitoba government has increased funding to the RCMP by 100 per cent.
