Local firefighters tackle semi blaze.
On January 19, 2012, just after 8am, Falcon Beach RCMP as well as local Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene of a semi-truck fire in the RM of Reynolds, Manitoba.
Investigation indicates that a 2012 International tractor and trailer was travelling west on the Trans Canada Highway near McMunn, when the driver noticed a possible mechanical malfunction. The driver pulled the semi off the highway into a parking lot when he discovered a fire and attempted to extinguish it. Local firefighters attended and eventually brought the fire under control.
Police say that the occupants, a 35-year-old male and a 33-year-old male, both from Ontario, were able to escape without injury.
The truck was reported to be hauling general freight with no hazardous materials. The vehicle is said to be a total loss. No damage estimate is available at this time.
The highway remained open while Emergency personnel worked on the fire.
