A Dakota Ojibway police officer is facing numerous charges in connection with an assault incident that occurred last month.
On December 24, 2011, at about 10:30am, RCMP were called and advised that an off-duty Dakota Ojibway police officer had forced his way into his residence and assaulted his spouse.
RCMP attended the residence, located and arrested the off-duty officer. He was released on conditions and pending a court appearance in March. On January 19, 2012, he was formally charged with forcible entry and assault.
RCMP report that the victim did not require medical attention.
The officer will not be named or any other information released to protect the identity of the victim.
