The Town of Niverville is hoping to get some money from the government so that they can proceed with a significant water project for the community.

According to council, the town has decided to apply for infrastructure funding for the enhancement of the community’s public infrastructure, including drinking water.

Council has already completed a study on the project, which has been called the Niverville & Hanville Water Supply Treatment & Distribution Study. The study recommends a business plan for Niverville to construct a public water supply and distribution system for the entire community.

This system would improve safety, management, reliability, conservation and efficiency within the community, noted council.

Using the results of the study, the Niverville council has made application for funding the enhancement and augmentation of the Fifth Avenue Water Treatment Plant and the construction of a water distribution system to serve the majority of the Town currently being supplied by private wells.

The Town of Niverville added that their first priority is the upgrading and expansion of the Fifth Avenue Water Treatment Plant and that upon its completion, the construction of water distribution lines throughout the town.

Council added that they are prepared to cost share in this project equally with the federal and provincial governments.
