On February 27, 2012, at 11:30am, Killarney RCMP as well as local emergency services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal snowmobile collision, approximately four miles north-west of Boissevain, Manitoba.
Initial investigation indicates that two female youths, ages 14 and 17, were operating a snowmobile on a farm property when they collided with a large trailer. The trailer was stationary and not in use at the time of the collision.
Police say that both girls were transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
The 14-year-old girl is from the Boissevain area and the 17-year-old girl is reported to be a visiting student from outside of Canada.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst will be assisting with the ongoing investigation.
