Winnipeg’s historic Forks Market will host Discover Agriculture in the City, a free celebration that opens the world of agriculture to everyone. From March 20 to 22nd, visitors can learn about where their food comes from, how certain local crops can affect their health and much more.
At Discover Agriculture in the City, gardeners can gain tips on composting. Curious commuters can see how biofuel is made; and earth-friendly consumers can find out about new plastic products made from potato starch.
A 26-tonne Case IH tractor will display the power and sophistication of modern farm equipment, and a glass-enclosed bee hive will expose the secret life of bees.
In addition to many interactive displays, Discover Agriculture in the City invites visitors to enjoy the daily presentations on the main stage.
The Great Manitoba Food Fight (Friday, 1 p.m.) will feature new food products being pitched to a panel of judges. Cooking demonstrations from Winnipeg chefs Saturday and Sunday, ongoing from noon to 4 pm, will offer visitors a taste of Manitoba.
Food samples, contests, activities and prizes will help make this an ideal weekend adventure for visitors of all ages.
