The annual Spring Roadway Weight Restriction period in Steinbach will commence on March 15, 2012 (6:00 am) until further notice.
During this period, vehicle axle loadings will be reduced to 65% of the normal legal loadings. The City of Steinbach recognizes that the 65% axle loading limit is extremely restrictive. As an alternative option, the city will permit heavy vehicle deliveries within Steinbach during the spring weight restriction period, providing the following conditions are met:
1) You are carrying 60% or less of your normal legal payload, even though the front axle may be overweight.
2) You take the shortest route off a designated Truck Route to make your delivery. Designated Truck Routes in Steinbach are PTH #12, PTH #52 and McKenzie Avenue between PTH #12 and PTH #52.
3) Where possible, deliveries are scheduled for first thing in the morning when the roads are colder and possibly still frozen. This timing can reduce road damage.
4) In the event that it is not possible to comply with items 1) or 2), you call either of the numbers listed below to make arrangements for a special delivery time and route approval.
5) Where possible, the actual unloading of the delivery is done with your vehicle off of the Public Roadway and on the site property.
The City’s Community Services Officer will be monitoring truck activity within Steinbach. If any abuses of the optional “60% of Payload” policy are found, then the 65% of Normal Axle Load rules will be applied, enforced and fines issued accordingly.
