A Steinbach teen was airlifted to hospital after sustaining injuries in a snowmobile accident this past weekend on Falcon Lake.
On March 10, 2012, just before 5pm, Falcon Lake RCMP, along with local emergency services, were dispatched to the scene of a snowmobile collision on Falcon Lake.
Investigation indicated that a group of four snowmobiles, each with a lone rider, were traveling north of the groomed trails when one of the machines went over an elevated ice ridge, causing the snowmobile to flip over and throw the rider. The rider was off of the groomed trail system at the time of the collision.
STARS attended the scene and airlifted the rider to a hospital in Winnipeg with unspecified injuries, which were reported to be non-life threatening.
The injured rider is a 15-year-old male youth from the Steinbach area. Police say that he was with his father at the time of the collision.
Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in this collision.
Police continue to investigate.
