A Killarney manĀ is facing firearms related charges after police found him to be in possession of numerous prohibited and non prohibited firearms and weapons.
On March 7, 2012, investigators from RCMP Customs and Excise, RCMP Integrated Border Enforcement Team, the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team and the Killarney RCMP Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence in Killarney, Manitoba.
During the search, a number of prohibited and non prohibited firearms and weapons in the possession of an unlicensed owner were seized. Firearms located in the search included a sub-machine gun with high capacity magazine, two hand guns, numerous long guns, prohibited weapons and soft body armour.
A 44-year-old man from Killarney, Manitoba, has been charged with a number of weapons offences including five counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, as well as unsafe storage charges and is facing charges of unlawful possession of body armour.
The man has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Boissevain Provincial Court on March 28, 2012.
Police continue to investigate.
