Two Winnipeg residents are facing numerous drug related charges after police seized an amount of drugs and cash at a Winnipeg residence and restaurant last week.
On March 8, 2012, members of the RCMP Selkirk General Investigation Section, Criminal Intelligence Section and Selkirk Detachment, with the assistance of “D” Division Drug Section, Emergency Response Team and RCMP Police Dog Services, executed CDSA (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) search warrants at a residence on Jefferson Avenue, and a restaurant in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue, both in the City of Winnipeg.
During the search of the restaurant, investigators located approximately 10 pounds of processed marijuana. The search of the residence yielded approximately six ounces of cocaine, as well as ecstasy, crystal methamphetamine and a quantity of Canadian currency. The total street value of the seizure is estimated at over $35,000.
A 26-year-old man, Trung Ngoc Truong of Winnipeg, was arrested and has been charged with of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana, possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and six counts of breaching a recognizance. Truong was remanded into custody and will appear in court at a later date.
A 48-year-old woman, Thi Thu Tran of Winnipeg, was arrested and has been charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. She has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Police continue to investigate.
