The RM of De Salaberry, served by the St. Malo and St. Pierre Fire Departments, reinstated the fire ban at 4pm today.
The ban was briefly lifted by the municipality last week to allow several controlled burns to take place while the conditions were favourable. With the upcoming long weekend, the decision was made to reinstate the fire ban due to a large grass fire that occurred yesterday evening that had threatened several homes.
Fires in enclosed fire pits are permitted, however ratepayers are reminded to use caution.
Residents are asked to check up on the municipal website www.rmdesalaberry.mb.ca for up to date municipal news and fire ban status.
