RCMP have uncovered a marijuana grow operation after searching for suspects connected to an assault incident that occurred this past weekend at a Wawanesa bar.
On April 15, 2012, shortly after 12:30am, Blue Hills RCMP responded to a call of an assault with a weapon at a Wawanesa bar. Three adult males were sprayed with bear spray following an altercation with two other male subjects inside the bar. Police say that the victims were not seriously injured and did not require medical attention.
During the search for the suspects, police located a marijuana grow operation at the residence of one of the accused. Police later executed a search warrant at the Wawanesa residence and seized several marijuana plants as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia.
A 20-year-old Brandon male was arrested for assault with a weapon, possession of a restricted weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. He was released on conditions, with a court date of May 31 in Brandon.
A 21-year-old male from Wawanesa was arrested for production of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of June 14 in Brandon.
Blue Hills RCMP continue to investigate.
