Just after 5:30pm on April 16, 2012, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a theft at Altos Restaurant in the Canad Inn on Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Investigation revealed that four males had entered the restaurant, ordered and ate dinner and then left the premise without paying. The suspects fled the scene running across a field south of the Canad Inn. Police attended, however, the suspects attempted to evade them. A foot chase ensued and the four suspects were apprehended.
Two 18-year-old men of Sandy Bay FN, Manitoba were arrested for fraudulently obtaining food and breach of probation. Both have since been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Provincial Court later this month.
An 18-year-old male, also from Sandy Bay FN, was arrested for fraudulently obtaining food, breach of probation and obstructing a peace officer. He also had an outstanding warrant for arrest and has been remanded in custody, scheduled to appear in Provincial Court.
The fourth male, an 18-year-old male from St. Claude, Manitoba, was arrested for fraudulently obtaining food, breach of probation and breach of an undertaking. He has been remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in Provincial Court.
Police continue to investigate.
